Our company's story ...began when a young couple with a thirst for adventure uprooted their family of five (known as the 5 J's) from their comfortable life in Denmark back in the summer of 1982.
Their bold move to relocate to fantabulous Northern California on a whim really, all came down to finding a home, 3 schools for their young children, and of course staking out a location for a subsidiary to their company back home - all within a couple of weeks time. At the last hour, literally - before jumping back on the airplane, all the pieces fell into place and within a few months the 5 J's found themselves in new surroundings living THE DREAM. The subsidiary was named Cillus Company Inc. and for the first many years the warehouse was filled with a wide variety of goods from Denmark until Educational Toys took over and became the main product line. With customers such as Toys R Us and Walt Disney business was great. The 5 J's thrived, and the original plan to move back to Scandinavia after a couple of years was never discussed. Instead, annual summer trips back home refueled the family every year and continues to do so to this day! The company today is run by the youngest J and for nearly 30 years the main product lines have been quality candles and home decor all originating from Scandinavia. The missions is to bring some of that wonderful Danish HYGGE to homes all over America. |
